Tips for Dressing Your Schoenhut Doll

Please visit my stores at www.gingersdolls.com & www.bonanzle.com/booths/GingersDolls

Hints for dressing and posing your Schoenhut Doll  (We are never too old to play dolls!)

Dresses, Union Suits and Drawers:  Schoenhut dolls often have nailheads or wire ends protruding from the body and limbs, that may snag knit stockings and unionsuits and delicate lace on clothing.  When dressing your doll, do so carefully, lifting the fabric away from these objects as you pull the garment on.
     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our stockings are custom fitted for each Schoenhut doll size to allow for better posing, and fit very snugly.
Pull stockings carefully over the foot, with sole seam lining up with big toe and center of heel.  This will put sole opening in correct position to place doll on stand.  To remove stockings, push top down to ankle and grasp fabric at heel and pull stocking off. They will slide off easily.
     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our shoes are cut from patterns of actual antique Schoenhut shoes, to insure that we make them as authentic as is possible.
The soles are more narrow than typical oval German type doll shoes, so that they fit your Schoenhut doll correctly.  We have made every effort to be sure that the sole grommets are installed smoothly with no flattening or bending.  Bent or flattened shoe grommets are the main cause for shoes not fitting Schoenhut stands.  Schoenhut shoes do not have tie eyelets, so please be careful to not pull so tightly that there is a strain on the leather.  Tip:  A thin teaspoon handle makes a great shoe horn!

Posing Your Schoenhut Doll On 'The Clearly Better' Stand
 If your doll has very good tight joints, you can have fun posing them in animated positions.   Not all Schoenhut dolls are able to stand alone, as some are very worn or have missing or weak springs. Please pose your dolls accordingly.
When posing your doll on the stand, please take the time to be sure that stocking and shoe opening are lined up accurately with the back hole of your dolls foot.   The forward hole of the foot will be offset slightly, so that it is often possible to stand your doll on its toe.
Sometimes one foot is more deeply drilled than the other. Occasionally a child has inserted a piece of crayon, pencil, or other object into the hole and you will need to remove the obstruction, or use the other foot for the stand.
When standing your doll, it is best if you will place them in a "military stance", with toes slightly outward, knees locked, and back straight. Then if your doll is able, you can carefully pose them in other positions.

Posing Your Schoenhut Doll On The Clearly Better Stand

We have developed and manufactured the perfect answer to the need for a suitable and inexpensive display stand for your Schoenhut doll.  As I am sure, you already have discovered that original Schoenhut stands are very rare and expensive to buy when found.

Crystal clear, smooth, and durable, these are made of heavy acrylic with a steel peg of the same dimensions as the pegs on the antique steel stands.
The holes in your antique Schoenhut shoes will fit over these pins These come with slightly larger bases than the old metal stands, to give your precious dolls more stability.

An additional benefit is that these are clear, and nearly invisible on most surfaces. (Please see examples of all sizes, pictured below.)

~and yes, we know~~they are not like the old ones~~they are better!

If your Schoenhut doll is able to stand upright, these stands will work very well. If your doll has very good tight joints, you can have fun posing them in animated positions.
Not all Schoenhut dolls are able to stand alone, as some are very worn or have missing or weak springs. Please pose your dolls accordingly.

These stands come in three sizes.....

A four inch stand has a slightly shorter peg to accommodate the little 11'' inch toddler Schoenhut.

The five inch stand is perfect for your 14''  to 18''  Schoenhut Doll.

The six inch stand offers posing possibilities for those really large  18'' to 22'' Schoenhut dolls.

We have fitted these to all sizes of Schoenhut dolls, and they do fit correctly.
However, we have discovered that sometimes one foot is more deeply drilled than the other.

We are sure that you will enjoy this new idea in stands for Schoenhut Dolls.
