Group Description: We all love to decorate but we don't always have the money to do it like the magazines. Who says we can't use our creativity and things we have already own to turn our homes into the place of which we dream? Let's share successes as well as failures and lots of encouragement as we stretch our decorating dollars.
When we moved into this house, it had the ugliest forest green laminate back splash and it made my smallish kitchen look like a cave. First I sanded it really well and put on a good coat of gripper primer. Let that dry really well, and then on went my wall color. It's a bright green semi gloss. 2 coats of that with light sanding in between each coat. Last , I gave the surface another light sanding, wiped off the dust and started with the sealer coats. I used Minwax polycrylic sealer. 3 coats with light sanding in between. I now have a brighter kitchen and it blends in almost seamlessly with the walls. Works on laminate counter tops too!
