Antique Postcards Are Great Learning Tools and Antique Postcards are Fascinating!A long time ago I got involved in antiques. I never thought much about paper media, when I began to see an attraction to "Old Stuff". The allure for me, at the time, was the ornate woodwork of some furniture, and the amazing patterns in the brocade and damask fabrics and draperies. Then, one day I went to an auction, and my world changed! I bought BIG box of postcards. Really old ones, and probably a couple thousand of them!! Most were used, some not. They were all from the first 20 years of the 1900's, about 1906 to about 1919.I sat down and started reading them. I read the printed picture captions on some of them, as well as looking at the pictures on the front. They related, in age, to the old furniture that I have learned to love, and showed the towns, streets, and even the houses where some of it could have even lived in it's day! I also turned them over and read t he messages.... WOW! I was all but communicating with these people!! The messages were just like quick telephone calls home. Dad must have worked for the railroad. He wrote notes about when he would be getting home, and how he and the passengers would need to get off the train, and help clear snow from the tracks, so the train could get through...Who would have ever known!! I sure didn't know.

There are kids who do history research, and families who research the geaneology of their families. These postcards hold so many keys, and so muuch information!! One group of postcards has the history of a young lady... I watched her be a young girl, move all over the Great lakes area, of the Midwest, and then, finally she must have gotten married, because, her name changed. Her family was prominent in the upper midwest, they had a town named after them!!I have learned so much from these postcards, with the wanderings of the writings, and the wonderful photographs of homes that sadly do not exist any more, that I hope that kids and people younger than I, will see the wonderment in them, and share my passion!
Hello, I sell original & authentic Movie and Theatrical memorabilla. Not so much vintage but unique collectabiles to be sure. Most of my listings will be of Original Movie Poster's. I view each one as a great piece of art, not only for their beauty but for the ability to capture the essence of a film in a single image or collage. I primarally deal with 27" x 40" double sided posters which actually has the image from the front view in reverse on the back side. This is to allow for light to shine thru the image when it is displayed in a lighted movie theatre poster case. Currently I have come in possesion of over 400 Movie Posters, Vinyl Banners, Bus shelters and other movie promotional material. Most item's have been distributed to various movie theatres to promote the release of a film, many of these items are brand new and have never been displayed.

I love ephemera of all kinds. I've got a lot of old photos. I saw on ebay that people were selling single playing cards. What is the deal with single playing cards, what do you do with them? Thanks for having this group, Supergrannys Treasures
I'm not entirely sure what one does with a single playing card...must have been an awesome deck to be able to sell just ONE card and have people actually buy it!!!

Hello People,Just thought I'd ask if anyone is listing any vintage Christmas things on their sites.I love vintage Christmas postcards....and need to go through my collection to see what I should list for December. I'd love to see what others have in the way of Christmas vintage.
Well, now we're all here, I'm not sure what to talk about!!Mmm, I'm going to an estate sale this afternoon, hoping they have some cool paper ephemera. I looked at their online photographs, trying to spy boxes of old documents and did some some old books, so it might be worth it.Central Florida doesn't seem to have much in the way of great estate sales:>(Where do y'all find your treasures? Anybody live in a State that has wonderful estate, or tag sales? My brother lives in Colorado and gets some awesome finds. Lucky him!
I live in south florida and there havent been many good estate sales lately, I mostly find great items at flea markets and thrift stores.
Well, I went to the sale/auction, and had to sit through 6 hours of furniture and tools to get to some cool vintage photographs. I wanted a box of music books but the bidding went too high:>(I got bored in the middle of the day and bought myself some Waterford Crystal pieces.... for my husband to give me for Christmas;>)
Hello ImagineArt!I used to live in Palm Coast and often visited the flea market in Deltona open on Wednesdays. I'm up North now. Really really miss the Deltona market! Hi PaperInk,I've been to the Deltona Flea Market too. We go up to St. Augustine for weekend getaways and always stop there. Love it!!There's a HUGE one in Mt. Dora too, although I've only been there once...must go again.
